The study aimed to focus on the geographical distribution of differences in family size, and the extent of the impact of developmental variables on family decisions related to family size within the study area. It also aimed to show the impact of family size on developmental aspects spatially and demographically, which depends on how family size distributed in the study area to achieve its temporal dynamics in order to be one of the cities of sustainable development. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach supported by quantitative analysis methods and mathematical models, to understand the impact of developmental factors on family size in Mafraq. The study tool, a questionnaire, was adopted to collect the necessary data, as (1440) questionnaires were distributed to all neighborhoods of Mafraq, which are about (24). The study showed the importance of the geographical location of Mafraq, which may contribute to its growth, as well as linking it to several cities such as Irbid, Zarqa, and Jerash. In addition, Mafarq is linked to the centers of some neighboring Syrian governorates, which enhances its regional function. The study also concluded that Mafraq suffers from weak balanced development among its neighborhoods, as a small number of families occupied neighborhoods with large areas, while neighborhoods with small areas were relatively crowded. The study recommends re-evaluating urban development policies in Mafraq to ensure a balanced distribution of the population among neighborhoods based on urban planning. Secondly, it is necessary to exploit neighborhoods with large areas by developing the infrastructure and providing the necessary services to attract residents. Finally, overcrowding in small neighborhoods should be reduced by improving urban planning and expanding the spaces available for construction and services.
