The study aimed to identify the effect of using the command and cooperative method on learning swimming backstroke skills. The researchers used the experimental approach. The study sample consisted of (20) female students from the Department of Physical Education at Mutah University, who were enrolled in a swimming course (1). The educational program was applied as follows: the first experimental group consisted of (10) female students who applied the teaching program using the command method, while the second experimental group consisted of (10) who applied the teaching program using the cooperative method. After collecting and analyzing the data, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the pre-and post-measurements of the two experimental groups in favor of the post-measurements.The results of the study as well indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the post-measurements between the two groups in favor of the command method. In light of the results, the study recommends using the command teaching method when teaching the backstroke skill and conducting more studies on other teaching methods in swimming skills.
