The study focuses on the relationship between alienation and nostalgia in the story: “The Mirror of Kardasa”, which is part of a collection of short stories written by the Iraqi author Inaam Kachachi under the title: “Takh Takh Land”; for her interest in the diaspora literature and the issues it addresses, and its intellectual and psychological characteristics. The core issues that are vividly expressed in this story are the themes of alienation. The distinct intellectual and psychological characteristics in the diaspora literature are demonstrated in the depiction of nostalgia and feeling of homesickness of the migrant Arabs to their beloved homeland and culture. This study uses the cultural studies approach in contemporary literature, which is associated with migration and the diaspora, in addition to the narration techniques both temporal and spatial for a deeper understanding of the literary text. The study selected the said narrative text because it is contemporary and is part of a recently published collection of stories. The reflection of the Arab migrant is seen as a representation of his status quo, which the study aims to highlight and clarify.
