Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effects of using computerized educational software on the breaststroke level, and the differences between the breaststroke skill performance by using an educational software based on kinematical variables. The study used the semi-experimental method. The sample of the study consisted of 20 female students in the ages of 14-15 years who were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group was formed of 10 female students who were taught through the computerized educational software, the control group was composed of 10 female students who were taught in the traditional way. After applying the two programs the kinematical variables were detected by using a video camera at a frequency of 25 pictures per second. The results of the study found statistically significant differences in the skill performance level of the breaststroke in favor of the experimental group that used the computerized educational software, in all of the following skill variables: (floating on the belly, slide on the belly, slide on the back, leg movement on the belly, leg movement on the back, standing in the water, breathing-regulation, breathing -suppression, movements of the legs on the chest, movements of both arms, and complete breaststroke. The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences in kinematical variables (the duration of swimming, the average length of the stroke, the average of velocity, the number of strokes, and the efficiency coefficient) for the breaststroke and in favor of the experimental group that used the computerized educational software. As seen in the results, the study recommends the following: activating the usage of computerized educational software in teaching breaststroke for the age group from (14-15) years. It also recommends working on preparing computerized learning bags and applying them on other types of swimming. In addition, it recommends implementing further studies using the computerized educational software used in this study will be conducted on the teaching of breaststroke swimming to other age groups and to both sexes.
